When one dreams about luxury bedding, silk is one of the materials that immediately springs to their mind. If one is sure about anything it is that scratchy bedding is an absolute nightmare for everyone. Silk bedding does not just have a luxurious feel associated with it, it is also extremely comfortable. And unlikely to most people’s knowledge, silk bedding is actually very breathable as well.
Prime Benefits
Despite the underlying fact that silk bedding feels and looks luxurious and can immediately turn your bedroom into a dream one, it has some functional benefits as well. First of all, it is a hypoallergenic material implying that silk bedding is suited to allergy sufferers. So, no more sniffing that nose throughout the night. Your allergies would not play up during the night if you are enjoying the comfort of the best silk sheet and pillow.
Secondly, a silk pillowcase helps in bringing improvement to hair growth and reduces hair breakage throughout the night. As one turns and tosses quite a bit during their six to eight hours of sleep, that hair can start breaking easily. Silk bedding avoids any hair breakage because the surface gets so smooth that hair literally glides over it.
The third benefit might sound surprising to some, but silk bedding is actually proven to be quite breathable. It is often thought that silk gets quite sticky in summers, but if one can invest in a high-quality mulberry bedding set, one will not have to worry about that.
Which Is the Best Silk Duvet for you?
When it comes to finding the best for you, it can take some research. Luxury bedding Hong Kong uses high-quality duvets comprising 90% Smartfil Fibres and 10% Pure Silk. It is extremely breathable and delivers the top hotel quality that you are looking for. White silk bedding is always ideal for a neutral home combined with those white or grey cotton bed linens.

Those who know me know that, as a child, I have had the opportunity to love many things. My grandmother had a tailor shop and the fabrics have always been a source of inspiration, joy and creativity for me. Furthermore, by spending the summer between the countryside and the sea, I had the opportunity to appreciate nature and in particular trees, birds and flowers.
Therefore, the first thing I would insert in a space that I love are colored cushions and pastel-colored fabrics that bring out the natural light. I would therefore think of light linen curtains, ethnic fabrics to cover sofas (if, like me, you have animals!) and silk embroidered cushions that reminds to nature.
As for the colors, I would prefer light colors but I have to admit that a large room with high ceilings and natural light would also recall a dark color on the walls.
As a nature lover, I love collecting plants of all kinds. Green light then to potos, ficus benjamin, spatiphyllum, kenzia and all types of sagging plants that help you to furnish your flat and fill those difficult spaces.
Yes, even to ethnic items bought during a few trips; the house is our refuge and must talk about us and our past. So do not be afraid to exhibit scrolls, pictures or musical objects from an exotic destination; they will not only remind you of that particular moment of your life but every guest will be thrilled about it and ask you to tell the story of that trip or that particular object.
For today we have talked about interiors in general but in the next articles, we will focus on some more delicate aspects. See you next time!
it’s very important to follow some rules and add serum and moisture every day to provide extra nourishment. For example, you can find some tips in this article.
I usually use hyaluronic acid and rich cream to keep my skin hydrated and I use make up even if my face is covered by the mask. So, in this case, don’t forget your sunscreen. You might think that sitting in an office can minimize exposure to the sun, but glass windows don’t necessarily block out all UV rays that are very dangerous and can cause wrinkles and skin cancer.
Focus on your eyes make up! It’s best to avoid blush and lipstick as they can stain your mask. This means the eyes should be your main focus. A simple slick of eyeliner and a coat of mascara will instantly transform your look. Don’t forget your brows, either.
“Framing the face is important, especially when we are just seeing the eyes. After applying your mascara, use what’s left on the brush and apply it gently over your brows. Pencil in any sparse areas. Set it with a clear brow gel if needed by brushing the brow hair upwards,” says a make up artist.
Also, don’t forget to take care of your lips with a lipstick to prevent dryness.
Last but not least, try to sleep better with a silk eye mask during the night, a luxury hypoallergenic pillow and a silk bed sheet. A silk eye mask will help you with those annoying dark circles under your eyes and also, sleeping in total darkness allows your body to secrete as much melatonin as possible. So, don’t forget to take care of your skin in this moment!
]]>In Italy, this problem does not exist because every house, from the oldest to the most modern, is equipped with shutters that create, even during the day, a night effect that reconciles sleep.
When we moved to Hong Kong, I began to fear the lack of darkness because, still without blinds, I kept waking up at unspecified times, often immediately after dawn. It was then that I thought of using silk masks for sleeping.
On the one hand, the soft and smooth texture of pure mulberry silk silk improves the skin at night, making our eyes less tired and with less dark circles. Furthermore, the light does not pass; therefore, we can sleep peacefully even without shutters until lunch time.
In addition to this, as mentioned by the Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School, we all have “light sensitive” cells in the retina of our eyes and they tell the brain when it’s daytime or nighttime and determines our sleep patterns.
For example, if you’re normally early to bed but become exposed to light, you’re not going to fall asleep at your normal time and could miss out on the benefits of sleeping early. A study has also been carried out by some Chinese researchers investigating whether sleep masks affect your sleep. The research indicated that the use of sleep masks and ear plugs led to more deeper quality sleep, that was less disrupted, with elevated melatonin levels. Sleeping in total darkness allows your body to secrete as much melatonin as possible.
Therefore, the consistency of silk bed sheets, together with the benefits of wearing a silk eye mask and the choice of a pure luxury hypoallergenic pillows are characteristics that improve our well-being ... but also our mood. You just have to try!
]]>But mulberry silk, from the beginning, was used to manufacture the clothes of the richest people, the most beautiful and expensive of the time.
The ultimate silk garment, in my opinion, is Kimono. But, what do we really know about this wonderful garment? What are its origins and how did it evolve?
Kimono, literally means “thing to wear", is a traditional Japanese dress. Originally, this word was used for every type of dress but, later on, Kimono was conceived as the long dress still worn today by people of both sexes and all ages. It is a T-shaped dress, with straight lines, which reaches up to the ankles, with a collar and long sleeves. The sleeves are usually very wide at the wrists, up to half a meter. Traditionally, unmarried women wear kimonos with extremely long sleeves that reach almost to the ground, called furisode.
The history and development of the kimono have been strongly influenced by the traditional Chinese clothing of the Han people, called hanfu, thanks to the Japanese embassies in China in the fourth century. However, starting from the 8th century, the Chinese costume became popular in Japan and, during the Heian period (794–1192), the kimono began to change and became more and more similar to the current one.
From ancient times to today, kimono and its use have changed a lot, while maintaining some traditional distinctive features such as the T-shape, the wide and long sleeves and the belt at the waist.
Why does the modern kimono continue to be successful? What is its main feature? I can say, it’s a successful garment because it’s super versatile. It can be used as a dress in the long version, as a tunic or as a spring jacket. This is the reason why, soon, I will show you a very particular collection of silk kimonos. They look modern but also very close to the Japanese tradition. To carry out this project, I joined an Italian friend, the painter and tattoo artist, Max Brain.
Max has created a series of designs inspired by Japan that will be hand-embroidered on four kimono models, all different from each other. I can't wait to see the finished product ready to wear, and you?
Silk kimonos coming soon !!!
]]>It is a very hard job to find a house that belongs to us, that reflects our qualities, our taste and our desires. When finally you find it, immediately after the first enthusiasm, you dive into an endless series of questions like "how to furnish it?", "Which colors to choose?" And "how to give a house a personal touch in order to turn it into a home with personality? ".
Personally, I have never loved those flats full of design objects that can be recognized at a glance. I have always loved, however, those particular houses, which bear the imprint and style of those who live there; those apartments that often contain vintage, contemporary and ethnic objects. The houses that tell a story.
This is how I have always approached the furnishing of the houses where I lived. In my house I brought myself, my memories, my travels, the colors and the fabrics that I bought while traveling around the world and that, in one way or another, gave my home a strong and elegant personality: a personality that reflects mine.
In addition to the objects collected during countless trips around the world, I have always loved fabrics. Silk, that has always been a great source of inspiration, is the protagonist. it gives immediate elegance to every corner, but also it‘s good for every season.
When we think of silk we "feel" and imagine something smooth, light, soft that slips away. But silk also insulates from heat and cold, leaving the skin to ooze. A silk bed sheet is therefore a very suitable solution as well as an experience to try. Therefore, to give a stately and romantic touch to your room, you could embellish the bed with silk bed sheets and silk pillow cases.
My Milanese apartment, dating back to the beginning of the last century, is characterized by very high ceilings and decorated with stuccos representing flowers and fruits. In such an environment, very bright and spacious, I chose a dark gray for the walls, a very fashionable and elegant color that can be even more refined by dressing the bed with a set of pink or white mulberry silk sheets or, why not, two colors set.
Another color that sounds perfect with gray is teal green (Pantone eggshell blue). It is very relaxing and ideal for resting after a busy day in the office or traveling.
In the end I can say that silk, together with colors and light are the best features that can make our flat looking elegant and luxury! So, enjoy!
]]>When I was a child, I was forced to wear short hair. I was attending a competitive swimming course and my grandma, to avoid rush and losing time, convinced me that keeping my hair short would have saved me time, being faster during competitions and other nice lies that I believed at that time. Once I grew up, out of habit, I continued to keep my hair short; I found it difficult to see myself with a different hairstyle but, in 2006, I finally decided to change.
After the "medium-length scaled hair" phase, when you keep on having messy hair, I continued with small tactical cuts of the split ends, a few highlights and a lot of patience.
And then, once the goal is reached, the problems begin. How to grow hair naturally without stressing it? How can you get a nice blow dry every day? How to keep hair straight and avoid the hated frizz? What about split ends? In short, I had a head full of questions and few solutions.
Searching the internet, I found a fairly famous website in Italy among long hair maniacs: “fairy hair” (capelli di fata). This blog was created with the aim of giving advice to all natural hair wellness products addicted to help increase hair growth in a healthy way, without stressing them. By following a few tips, I can say I have significant and, maybe, healthy hair.
So let's get to the point: my haircare routine. Often, after workout and before washing them, I apply a cold pressed natural coconut oil on the ends for 20/30 minutes, then I start to wash. Having blonde highlights, I use a specific shampoo for colored hair, then I apply a coconut mask instead of conditioner. I leave on for 10 minutes and rinse. Once out of the shower, I wrap my hair in a cotton towel. Basically I don't blow dry my hair unless it's very cold; I let them air dry and then, to avoid the frizzy effect due to Hong Kong humidity, I knot them in small locks for half an hour, in order to have a nice wave and avoid the "frizzy hair" effect.
As for the night, however, I must say that sleeping on a pure mulberry silk pillow case helped me to have shinier and healthier hair. As we have already said, thanks to silk's super smooth texture, hair glides over it without any friction. This means you'll be less likely to wake up with frizzy hair, tangles, or bedhead, whereas cotton can snag hair and muss it up into a nest of tangles overnight. Sleeping on pure silk pillowcase is a secret that women with curly hair have been using for years to keep styles like braids and blowouts preserved for longer without adding frizz. So try to believe! And if you want info about the products I use, do not hesitate to write me!

But how? Now I will explain how we are moving in this period, made of anxieties, worries and anti-bacterial masks!
As soon as I returned from Italy, my head was full of projects: an event for the launch of the brand, a temporary store and so on ... all before Easter! But no. Coronavirus stopped these ideas for a while because of the fear that spread easily everywhere in the world and forced many people to stay indoors. Many people from Italy, for example, given the closure of the schools, took the opportunity to return home; therefore, those who remained for work reasons or, simply, to avoid facing the freezing European winter, are adapting to the situation.
Many work from home and, in my case, surrounded by the warmth of my hairy roommates, I feel better every day.
But let's get back to us! The first thing I wanted to share concerns the double colored mulberry silk pillowcase. I applied a DISCOUNT to meet all those who want to try to buy them!
As the second news of the month, however, I am pleased to inform you that we have silk kimonos. Yes, you read that right, they have finally arrived but they do not yet have the touch of class that will make you love them: embroidery. I thought it was easy to find a factory that would make embroideries on mulberry silk but, instead, it was a challenge. Therefore, you have to wait a few more weeks to finally see the finished product. I cannot wait!
In the meantime, the silk eye masks will arrive for your endless dreams. You can use them both at home and on the road, to enjoy the benefits of silk at all times!
For the wellness corner that cannot be missing, never forget to take care of your skin, especially at this time when the prolonged use of the masks could damage the skin of your face. Always keep your skin hydrated and often change the mask which is filled with bacteria, dust and pollution that are not good for the face. As for the hands, also in this case, use a lot of the moisturizer as, due of the disinfectant soaps that are more aggressive on the skin, your risk is having chapped and damaged hands. As a last tip, do sports, eat healthy and take vitamin C that helps your immune system! For any information or even to have a chat, you can write me at lablondegitane@gmail.com
Happy start of the week to everyone!
]]>But first, let's give some historical concerns about this fabric.
You have certainly heard of Japanese kimonos, Indian saris and Korean hanbok. Everyone has something in common: silk!
In ancient times, however, silk production was the exclusive preserve of China. No one else knew how to produce it and in China, whoever revealed the secret of silkworms risked being sentenced to death as a traitor. Of course, already at that time, it was a very expensive fabric, reserved exclusively for the richest families.
Later, Persia had the control of all the silk from China but kept the price very high. To start seeing the expansion of silk we have to wait for the Emperor Justinian. Around 550 he sent two monks to China for a secret mission. These monks returned two years later. Hidden in the hollow interior of their bamboo sticks they were carrying the treasure: silkworm eggs. The secret had been revealed, and so the silk monopoly ended.
Now, let's go back to our test! To recognize real silk from counterfeit silk, just pass a flame on the fabric. Synthetic fibers burn quickly and you can smell an unpleasant scent. Silk, on the other hand, does not burn easily and does not release toxic substances in case it catches fire.
But what other properties does luxury and pure silk have?
Resistance: A silk thread is as resistant as a steel wire of equal thickness.
Luster: The refined luster of silk resembles that of pearls. This characteristic is due to the structure of the fibroin which breaks down the light like an optical prism does.
Hypoallergenicity: The amino acids that make up silk are hypoallergenic. Indeed, silk protects against various dermatological problems. Some cosmetics are made from silk powder, for example. We sell silk hypoallergenic beddings and hypoallergenic silk pillowcase.
Hygroscopicity: The amino acids and the tiny interstices of the silk fiber are highly absorbent and allow good perspiration, keeping the skin dry and fresh during the hot season. Silk pillowcase are incredibly good for hair and acne prevention
Protective action: Silk absorbs ultraviolet rays and therefore protects the skin.
Low static electricity: Since silk has both positive and negative ions and absorbs moisture, unlike other fibers it does not easily produce static electricity.
Now you know everything about silk good properties so, browse our products!
]]>I found out that korean girls are skincare products addicted and they are famous for their 10 step-routine, that refers to the way products are layered onto the skin. But which products they choose? In which order they use them?
First of all, the number of steps is very flexible – and it will change not only depending on your skin type but also the seasons. These steps are: cleansing (oil cleanser and foam cleanser), toner, essence, emulsion, serum, sheet mask, eye cream, moisturizer, sunscreen for morning routine and sleeping mask at night.
Let’s talk about every step in particular.
The first step is to cleanse twice: once with oil and once with a foaming cleanser. Why? Because each kind of cleanser gets a different kind of effect for your face. Oily cleanser are effective against oil based impurities but not very good for dirt, that’s why they wash with a second cleanser.
The second step is applying the toner, a light moisture, mostly full of botanical ingredients, that are meant to regulate your pH and soften your skin for the steps that will follow.
The third step is applying the essence that is a very thick layer like the toner and allows the skin to breathe. After the essence, you can apply the emulsion (4th step). This one is a little bit more viscous than the previous layers because it starts to build the richness we are going to see at the end. Also these products contain botanical extracts and other power-packed ingredients.
Step number 5 is to apply the serum, a very rich and concentrated product but, if your skin is greasy, I think you can skip some steps if you don’t want to feel super greasy!
The sheet mask, the 6th step, is a big problem for me because it’s not easy to choose the right one. I tried many of them and, in the end, I always had small pimples and redness. I use mask just one a month when I come back late at night or fly back home to Europe.
Then, you have to apply (and I should say, I always did it since I was young!) the eye cream! Eye cream’s aim is to moisturize the ultra-thin skin around your eyes where crow’s feet and lines are bound to appear. If you are younger than me, you can start to apply this cream to prevent wrinkles from showing up!
We are approaching the end of the list… stay with me for other 3/4 minutes!
The step number 8 is the moisturizer. Korean moisturizers come in a wide variety of textures and thicknesses but it’s quite easy to find the right one for your skin, even if you have oily skin!
After this step, you can apply finally the sunscreen before the make up! In Asia, we have very high UV rays and it’s super important to protect your skin from them. This can prevent wrinkles and also skin cancer.
If you are following these steps before going to sleep, you can apply, as a last step, the sleeping mask which is designed to work while your body is at rest.
And now? Is it finished? Absolutely not for me! After doing all these steps spending 15/20 minutes in the bathroom, you have to complete the routine using a luxury silk pillow case and bedsheets. This will prevent all this skincare routine from being vain because it retains moisture. Good night!!!
]]>But which are the most frequent mistakes we make without realizing it?
Now that you know what these errors are and how to solve them, you just have to try and observe the results... and don't forget to check our Chinese New Year Sale on https://lablondegitanehk.com
]]>I always took care of my skin since I was 25 but, after turning 30, I realized my skin was getting different, less elastic and I decided to learn more about how to face wrinkles.
My skincare started to be more accurate and I chose specific products for my face and body but, every morning, I found some lines on my face: the infamous sleep wrinkles.
Those fault lines may be due to skin distortion resulting from facial expression or may be due to skin distortion from mechanical compression during sleep. Expression wrinkles and sleep wrinkles differ in etiology, location, and anatomical pattern. Compression, shear, and stress forces act on the face in lateral or prone sleep positions. (1)
So it seems that, if we sleep on one side or facedown, we can see many lines on our face and décolleté the day after. That’s why the right position to avoid these lines would be sleeping face-up. But how? It’s very difficult to get used to sleep in a position we are not familiar with!
The solution would be buying a hypoallergenic silk pillowcase and beddings. These silk pillowcase are good for acne and hair and, in general, for our skin.
In fact, silk avoids mechanical friction and irritation that we experience during the night and it maintain the proper moisture level of the skin preventing skin from drying. Furthermore, silk has a smooth and slippery texture it will avoid the formation of anti-aesthetic sleep wrinkles that the night could give us.
As we said before, silk pillowcase are good for hair as well. Silk also reduces the friction of the hair on the pillow preventing hair from breaking and weakening. So, give a try to these silk pillowcase for hair and skin! You won’t regret it!

]]>But what to do if our work often takes us abroad? Especially, what happens to our skin when we get on a plane?
With no doubt if you travel long distances you will feel your skin tired and dry. This normally happens because the air we breathe in the airplane has less than 20% humidity. We calculate that the average percentage of humidity we have at home is generally over 30% (and, in Hong Kong, much higher than 30%!). The effects of dry cabin air can be felt immediately. In fact, it can happen to have headaches, nausea and a feeling of tiredness.
Even eyes, throat and skin suffer greatly. Who suffers from dermatitis like me, there is immediately the hateful feeling of tight skin. For this reason it is advisable to travel without make-up, to frequently apply a good moisturizer, a face oil or a hyaluronic acid serum on face and neck. You can also spray thermal water often and drink only water (alcohol and caffeine have of diuretic effects that increase dehydration). It is also very useful to include in your “in flight” beauty routine for very long journeys, some moisturizing, illuminating and decongestant eye patches. They have to be applied when needed or a couple of hours from landing. In this way we will not only help to deflate the bag and soften the eye, but the eye area will be more relaxed, illuminated and hydrated, helping to make us look less sleepy and tired. Furthermore, for this reason, we recommend using a pure silk pillowcase even when traveling.
In fact, this week I’m flying back to Italy and, to avoid my mother accusing me of being "tired and run down” every time we meet in Milan Malpensa after 12-hours flight, I will take my silk satin pillowcase on the plane, trying to sleep and let my skin breathe. In fact, remember that silk, compared to other products, retains better moisture, especially for those who have dry skin, this is a real blessing. Also, silk pillowcase is much better for acne so, experience the benefits of silk even in flight!
New product coming: silk mask for sleeping!!! Coming sooooooooon!
]]>When I was young, our primary school teachers brought us to visit a silkworms farm. I was so impressed to see all the long process that started from smooth silkworms and mulberry trees and ended with silk threads. I can remember nowadays the smell of that place and it was the exact moment I fell in love with silk.
My grandma was a tailor and, during the 80s and the 90s, I spent a lot of time watching her sewing, cutting the fabric and turning it into beautiful dresses. Her shop was in the centre of Milan and I remember all those ladies asking for luxury and colorful silk dresses.
But.. do you know how silk is made? What’s the role of mulberry trees? How long does it take to get one mulberry silk pillowcase?
Mulberry comes from Asia but it also widespread in Africa and North America. Mulberry can be white or black. White mulberry is a species native to central and eastern Asia and was imported into Europe with the silkworms because they love to eat its leaves. Black mulberry is native of Asia Minor and Iran and it has smaller leaves and produces tasty black-violet fruits. Probably it was introduced in Europe in the sixteenth century
There are hundreds of silkworm breeds that produce a usable fiber but only the Bombyx mori is bred by man.
This silkworm produces silk in two parallel glands placed inside the body. Silk is made up of proteins collected in the glands. The thin slime, in contact with the air, becomes solid and, thanks to the movements of the head, it is arranged in layers forming a raw silk cocoon, consisting of a single silk thread between 300 and 900 meters long. The thread is made up of two proteins: two parallel fibroin threads covered with sericin.
The legend attributes to Empress Xi Ling Shi the discovery of silk in 3000 BC. She realized that it was possible to untangle the cocoon because it fell into a cup of hot tea. In fact in the reeling the cocoons are immersed in hot water to unravel the filament. First, with the soaking, the sericin, the substance that acts as a glue for the cocoon, is softened. Then, with the stripping, the cocoon is rubbed with a toothbrush to free the leader and finally, during the actual reeling, the continuous thread unravels from the cocoon. To make a silk yarn for weaving it is necessary to combine the thread of at least 6-7 cocoons that, thanks to sericin remain cohesively together during reeling.
With a special machine a twist is applied to the raw silk thread, which increases its toughness and prevents the separation of the various threads. After this process, the silk thread becomes a yarn that is ready to be transformed into a fabric. The mulberry silk production process is long and complex. In these days, although technologies have reduced time and manual skills, it is precisely the close interrelationship between every single phase, combined with great experience, what makes this yarn so unique, pure and special.
This is how our luxury silk bedding sets and silk satin pillowcases are made.. a product that can last forever!
]]>Why is this happening? Because every natural fabric has a weight that can vary depending on how it was made. In cotton, for example, the "number of threads" factor is greater, while for silk, this unit of measurement is called "momme".
A product with a greater number of momme is a product with a higher number of threads has been used; therefore it is a more resistant and luxury product.
For mulberry bedding set, the type of silk which is normally used can vary from 19 to 22 momme because this kind of products should keep their quality after frequent washings and use.
Therefore, the silk used for evening dresses, such as organza, chiffon or crepe de Chine, will have a much lower weight than that used for our products. For organza you go from 4 to 6 momme; for chiffon, from 6 to 8 and for the crepe de chine, from 12 to 16.
For our silk satin pillowcases and luxury silk bedding sets, only 22 momme mulberry silk is used. This makes our products more resistant and luxurious than a lighter silk.
But how to deal with the maintenance of such a delicate and natural product for a long time? Now we will explain to you how to wash and maintain the beauty of your sheets.
Normally the silk should be dry-cleaned but in our case, I will reveal a secret to you: you can also wash it in the washing machine using the delicate cold program or at most 30 degrees. Obviously you can always bring your pure silk bedding set to the laundry to ask for dry cleaning but for those who want to save time and money, they can easily do it themselves at home.
For what concerns ironing, it is advisable to use a low temperature. My grandmother, a great expert in this field, was used to put a clean cloth as a shield between iron and silk. In short, you must be more careful but, considering the benefits of this wonderful fabric, it's certainly worth it.
]]>Living in big city like Milan and, later, Hong Kong, my skin has always been stressed by pollution, UV rays and slightly contaminated water. In fact, when I moved to Hong Kong, I realized I had to change something in my daily skin and hair care; I decided creams and face masks were not enough. That’s the moment when I decided to read more about pure fabric and, finally, I chose silk.
Silk, compared to cotton and linen, the other two natural fibers we have been using for years, has highly superior properties.
First of all, it allows the skin and the hair to slip during nighttime movements while the thicker and coarser cotton releases anti aesthetic marks on the face and small expression wrinkles.
Pure and Natural silk contains 18 amino acids that contribute to the balance of our skin. This is why silk hypoallergenic pillow case are recommended for healthy hair and skin.
In addition to this factor, silk retains moisture better and, especially for those with dry skin, is the best solution. In fact, without changing our daily routine related to skincare, we will realize that silk absorbs much less the products we use before going to bed on our face and body as well as not retaining bacteria which, instead, happens if we use the classic cotton pillowcases.
That’s why some skincare brands started formulating anti aging and anti eczema creams and serums by using cocoons from the Bombyx mori silkworms.
Regarding hair, however, among the advantages of the continuous use of silk satin pillowcases there is for sure the less chance of split ends. Thanks to its smooth texture, silk prevents hair breakage that often occurs during the night.
But not just that, cotton often causes knots and tangles in the hair that we have to untangle every single morning. Silk, on the other hand, thanks to its composition and its softness, prevent hair from suffering electrostaticity and entanglement.
Having very long hair, I have personally experienced the benefits of silk pillowcases and I can say that my hair has helped a lot. Give a try to mulberry silk pillowcases and you won’t regret it!

Using silk satin pillowcases and sheets, our skin, without changing the skincare routine, will be softer and smoother. This is because silk retains moisture better and, especially for those who have dry skin, this is a real blessing.
But silk is also important for our hair, damaged day after day by too much washing, bleaching and humidity.
The friction of the hair on the cotton pillow, for example, can make crepe every type of hair, especially the most stressed and subjected to continuous treatments. Pure silk pillowcase, on the other hand, greatly reduces frictions while protecting the hair structure.
I also read about silkworm cocoon coming from Japan that are used as a face cleanser. It's a 100% natural way to clean before going to sleep and it's very helpful because it takes advantage of the qualities of pure silk, like the two fibrin and sericin proteins.
Sericin is a protein that is very similar to keratin that make up our skin and our hair. Specifically, on one hand, sericin is able to fix water on the skin surface, on the other it creates a protective veil that reduces dehydration.
In short words? Using silk day by day gives more beautiful, hydrated, healthy and shiny hair and skin. What else?
